have a few issues I could really use some help with. The family car that I have been driving wasn't in my name but I was still covered on the insurance until one day I hit a mailbox with the passenger side mirror. Will this change if we switched insurance companies? And if I haven't had an accident in over 12 years, would it be possible to appeal that? Thanks in advance

I had insurance through a company called Sunset Plaza Insurance, and only agreed to do a 6 month period (from 12/08 to 06/09). I moved during the time, and never received a renewal notice at my new address, even after I gave them my new address. Because neither one of my parents hold a license, I would be practicing with other people and so the car would be to not risk damaging someone else's and get used to driving it for my driving test later in the year. I just bought a new car. I put down $7,000 and am paying $197/month for five years. I purchased car insurance, and the monthly premium is $358. Is this too much? Why is my insurance quote 10 times higher than last year?

So, i got my motorcycle license last summer and bought a 2003 Kawasaki ZX6R for $5000. My insurance from Progressive was $1700 for the year (full coverage). I rode it for two months before it got stolen. In those two months i got one ticket for straddling lanes. Once the bike got stolen i got all my money back. Now, I'm looking to get the same bike again. I just called Progressive and they want $6056 per year for full coverage!!!! And if i were to buy a brand new 2007 model it would be $10000!! So, $6056 for a $5000 bike? And $10000 for a $9000 bike? What gives? One ticket and the theft did this? I don't get it. What are my options?

Just to clarify: I am not interested in getting a lawyer and taking this to court. And also, my medical bills are being billed to my insurance, and then my insurance is supposed to be paid back by their insurance (apparently this is how it works in Oregon). So I'm not going to be paying anything out of pocket, although I have made some copayments that I will request compensation for. When it's said that I should ask for 3x my medical bills, does that mean 3x the bills I'm paying, or 3x the bills in general?
